Jared’s journey into the world of home inspection is a testament to his rich background in construction, education, and a genuine passion for craftsmanship. Raised in Kapaau, North Kohala, Jared was steeped in a family legacy of builders. His father, an electrical contractor, and his stepfather, a general contractor, introduced him to the world of construction at an early age. Surrounded by diverse construction sites, Jared quickly became a hands-on learner and honed his skills in the trades. His upbringing instilled in him a deep appreciation for the meticulous art of building, emphasizing precision and attention to detail.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in scenic design from the University of Oregon, Jared seamlessly merged his academic background with his hands-on expertise. He joined the family business, where he dedicated himself to crafting custom homes from the ground up, showcasing his proficiency from conceptualization to completion.
Simultaneously, Jared applied his college degree by spearheading the development of a technical theatre program at Hawai’i Preparatory Academy. His role extended to designing and constructing sets for high school theatre productions, exemplifying his versatile talents.
In 2010, Jared transitioned into full-time teaching, taking on the role of educating students in stagecraft and woodworking at HPA. His passion for imparting knowledge and shaping young minds was evident, making his tenure at the academy immensely fulfilling.
However, the construction industry’s physical demands began to take their toll on Jared’s body. The ceaseless exposure to sawdust and chemical applications prompted him to seek a career that allowed him to channel his extensive construction and teaching experience while providing respite for his physical well-being. He also harbored a burning desire to embark on a new challenge—launching and managing his own business, where he could be his own boss.
This is where the world of home inspection beckoned. Although not mandated by the state, Jared’s commitment to excellence led him to become a certified home inspector. He successfully passed the rigorous National Home Inspector Exam, further underscoring his unwavering dedication, commitment, and profound respect for the home inspection industry.
